dion sighed, rolling his shoulders. he decided to finally explore a bit, so he leashed up his faithful companion and headed out the door. half an hour of walking later, they ended up in the town square. at least he thought it was the town square. it looked like it to him, but he probably shouldn't go around based on what his mother told him. she was horrible at directions. the young asian looked down at the dog by his side, brown meeting brown as the dalmation looked up at him. he looked antsy. it was probably because it was a new area, and everyone knows how dogs love new things. giving the spotted canine a pat on the head, dion looked up and around at his surroundings. he didn't know where to start...

Since school had went back a few days before it seemed as if Makenna had no free time. She had been working ahead in her studies, taking mostly honors courses, and had really just spent all her time on school stuff. Today, however, Makenna decided that she needed a break. So, she had sworn off of work for the day and planned to spend the day out in the sunshine. First, however, she had needed to stop at the post office to send off a stack of mail that had been piling up on the family table.
With that done, Makenna now had the entire day ahead of her. Her friends had already had plans for the day, so she wasn't sure what she would do. But, maybe she would find something. Leaving the post office, Makenna stopped in the middle of the town square, considering her options. She hadn't made it far in thoughts, however, when she spotted an unfamiliar face walking a dog. Makenna wasn't outgoing in the slightest, but the dog was just so... cute.
Before she really knew what she was doing, Makenna had made her way over to the man and his dog, grinning at him. "Uhm.... hi there." She smiled sheepishly, realizing how silly she must have looked. Shifting Makenna continued to hold the sheepish smile on her face. "Your dog... he's just so cute. May I pet him?"

his grip on the leather leash tightened, and he swore he visibly flinched as a girl's voice spoke out. he blinked a couple of times, turning towards the source of the voice. it was a girl, that's for sure. she looked like she was his age. perhaps she went to the high school? biting down on the inside of his lip, he nodded to her in greeting, focusing his eyes on the ground. oh, that's such a lovely pebble!
at the girl's question, he looked up once more, shifting his gaze from the pavement to his dog to the girl. well, he should have expected so much. not even his little sister could go a minute without wanting to pet the first dog she sees. "s-sure." he kept his voice quiet, nodding in case she hadn't heard him. the dog in question sat down, looking up expectantly at the girl. his tail thumped merrily on the ground, and his tongue lolled out the side of his mouth as he waited.
ooc: no problem. c:

Makenna shifted semi-awkwardly as the boy she had approached turned to face her. He seemed extremely uncomfortable and this made Makenna uncomfortable. Had she done something wrong? Said something wrong? Did the boy not like people bothering him about his dog? A million possibilities ran through her head in just the few short seconds before the boy spoke. Makenna was always a bit of a worrier.
But, he agreed to let her pet the dog and Makenna forced her hesitation away. She smiled warmly at the boy, kneeling down and petting the dog. She rubbed him behind his ears, giggling at how cute he looked. She loved dogs and had always waned one. But, every time she asked, her father told her no. At first it was because her mother had allergies to them, but now his reason had changed to the fact that she was leaving for college in less than two years. He would be stuck with the dog then.
So, Makenna always made it a point to pet dogs whenever she saw them out. It was the one thing she wouldn't hesitate about approaching people about. As she pet the dog, Makenna's gaze went back up to the dog's owner. The boy was about her age, it seemed, but she didn't recognize him. "Your dog is really cute," She stated once more, softly, "What's his name, if you don't mind my asking?"

the dalmation was wiggling with excitement, all discipline training on being calm thrown to the wind. he stood back up, tail lashing back and forth, whimpering and whining. this made dion smile slightly. dogs were so comical at times. "mister bibs." floppy, black and white eats perked every so slightly as his name was called. "my, um... my little sister named him." his sister had a weird sense of names. at least he was able to name the cat.

Mister Bibs. Makenna grinned at the name, her eyes averting back to the dog. "I think Mr. Bibs is an adorable name for a dog," She replied, cooing softly to the dog as she pet him. After a few seconds, she let the dog go. She stood back up now, smiling sheepishly at the dog's owner.
"I'm sorry," She added in, quickly, "I uhm... I just really like dogs. I couldn't help but to bother you." Shifting awkwardly now, the teen moved her gaze to the ground. She didn't recognize the boy. He seemed to be around her age, so that was rather odd. So, after just a few seconds, Makenna willed herself to look back up. She'd already overstepped what she considered to be her boundaries once, once more couldn't hurt.
"Are you new to Rodeo?" She questioned, though she had a feeling she knew the answer. Makenna wasn't the best with new people. She wasn't the shyest person, but she definitely wasn't the best at starting and maintaining conversation.

his eyes traveled from the spotted dog to the girl, blinking. he scratched the back of his head with the hand that wasn't holding on to mister bib's leash. "i-it's okay! i would have done the same in your situation." lowering his hand from his head, he scratched mister bibs behind the ears, using the dog as an excuse to do something other than stand there, awkwardly.
he perked up slightly at the question. was it that obvious? "uh, yeah! my family and i moved in a few weeks ago." he retracted his hand from his dog, stuffing it in his pocket. that reminded him that he had to go back and help unpack everything. eh, he would get to that after his walk. he didn't want to just ditch someone new after only a short encounter. that would just be rude.
